My Story
I never shy away from a conversation or an opportunity to share my story to support someone on their mental health journey. I've struggled with my mental health and emotions since childhood and am finally in a healthy place I never thought I could reach. I experienced childhood trauma that turned my life upside down. Instead of being met with care and compassion, I was called a drama queen, cry baby, and attention-seeker. This led to eating disorders, anxiety, depression, self-harm, and suicidality.
Through therapy, understanding how to experience and communicate my feelings, and using healthy coping strategies, I have overcome those challenges and want to prevent those challenges in other children.
As a parent, my #1 goal has always been and continues to be ensuring my children know that ALL of their feelings are normal and that they have a safe space to express themselves. It's never too early or too late to teach a child about emotions or for adults to heal from their own emotional trauma.
I received my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Cincinnati in Psychology and a Master's Degree from Boston College in Macro Social Work.
